2006 Season

Although the 2005 season has only just ended, it's time to being training hard to prepare for next year. By now, we have put in place training squads, training times and support services to help athletes acheive their goals for next year. For juniors, the major events for next year are the European Junior Championships and the Junior World Championships. For Seniors, there's the World Cup - but before all that, there's the trip to Australia for the Commonwealth Games.

Athletes need to know 1) their training times, 2) their training and competition goals, 3) the competitions they're expected to compete next season and 4) what selection criteria have to be met to reach their targets. If any divers don't know ay of these things, they need to talk to their coach as soon as possible and not get behind...

At the end of the season It's been a long season, but an extremely successful one for Sheffield Diving. Read about the successes, events where Sheffield divers have represented their country, and what we have to exceed in 2006.

Junior European Success Claire Blencowe and KAtie Hamilton produced the best results Sheffield divers have had at the European Junior Diving Championships in Electrostal, Russia. Along with a silver medal for Katie on 3m, there were top six results for both athletes in each event they dived.

World Championships Leon Taylor ended his 2005 campaign with his a World Championships bronze medal, to add to his Olympic silver, his Commonwealth silver and his World Cup bronze medals. His Sheffield team-mates Tony Ally, Mark Shipman, Ben Swain and Claire Blencowe were also on the GB team competing in Montreal. Read the whole story.
